In 1975, a Cambodian school teacher, who was later known to the world as Pol Pot wanted to transform his country to a hard line Communist country. He started what is known as the Khmer Rouge (red Khmer) revolution. In a matter of 3 days, he managed to disperse 2 million people living in the capital city Pnom Penh breaking families and communities and dispersing them in the country side. By the time the revolution was brought under control in 1978 (just 3 years), 1 million Cambodians out of a population of 7 million had been killed by Pol Pot’s men.
